WInFiDEL - Magnet polarity
Magnets have two poles (sides) usually referred to as North and South.
WInFiDEL sensor uses a magnet and a hall-effect sensor to measure distance.
Magnet polarity
The Hall-effect sensor that we use (DRV5056A3
) is uni-polar.
This means it can sense only one (south) magnet pole.
Because of this it is essential that you install the magnet properly.
Magnet polarity firmware
If you have purchased WInFiDEL from the web shop, it comes pre-loaded with the firmware that can help you determine "correct" magnet polarity.
This firmware will change the RGB LED color to green and blue as you bring the south side of the magnet. This is shown in the Correct magnet polarity
video below.
If you bring the "wrong" (north) side of the magnet to the sensor, the LED will remain red. This is shown in the Incorrect magnet polarity
video below.
Firmware
If you have purchased WInFiDEL from the web shop, it comes pre-loaded with the firmware that can help you determine "correct" magnet polarity.
If you have built your own or for whatever reason need to load this firmware version onto your unit, you can use the online flasher tool.
Correct magnet polarity
The LED changes to GREEN and BLUE as you bring the magnet closer to the sensor.
Incorrect magnet polarity
The LED stays RED as you bring the magnet closer to the sensor.
